UN Warns of Worsening Global Food Crisis in 2026 Due to Climate Extremes

The United Nations has issued a fresh global warning stating that millions of people across Africa, Latin America and parts of the Middle East may face severe food insecurity in 2026, as extreme climate events such as prolonged droughts, floods and heatwaves continue to disrupt agricultural production and supply chains; according to UN agencies, rising fertiliser costs, reduced crop yields and ongoing conflicts in vulnerable regions are accelerating hunger risks, prompting the organisation to urge wealthier nations and international donors to increase emergency food aid, climate-resilient farming investment and early-warning response mechanisms to prevent a large-scale humanitarian disaster.
