ISLAMABAD — The Pakistan Army on Saturday strongly condemned what it described as “provocative and jingoistic statements” by senior Indian security officials, warning that renewed conflict between the two nuclear-armed neighbours could lead to “cataclysmic devastation.”
In a forceful statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Pakistan accused the Indian leadership of attempting to manufacture arbitrary pretexts for aggression that would have “serious consequences for peace and stability in South Asia.” The ISPR said recent comments from Indian military and defence officials follow a period of heightened tensions — including a four-day armed confrontation in May — and risk further destabilising the region.
